STANDARDS IN CONTEXT
Low-voltage assemblies.
IEC 61439 addresses low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. The general rules in Part 1 are used with the relevant assembly-specific part. This is the context for reviewing a complete distribution or control assembly, including the effect of modifications.
OUR PRACTICAL APPROACH
Bring the requirement
into the conversation.
Start with the original assembly
Identify its manufacturer, ratings, drawings and available verification records.
Review changes as a system
Assess how replacement devices, busbars, enclosure changes or cooling alterations affect the declared assembly.
Agree the evidence required
Define the applicable verification and documentation with the responsible designer and manufacturer.
DOCUMENTATION TO REVIEW
The evidence
behind the equipment.
- Assembly drawings and declared ratings
- Original design and routine-verification records, where available
- Approved modification details and resulting test records
Keep the scope clear.
An individual component’s conformity does not establish conformity of the assembled panel. Part 1 is used together with the relevant assembly part.
Applicable parts, editions and acceptance requirements are confirmed against the project and manufacturer documentation.
